In primary care, 27% of young adults screened through SBIRT Colorado were misusing alcohol and/or cannabis, and this percentage jumped to 64% when young adults were screened in emergency care. Young adults of legal age (21 to 25) were more severe users of alcohol than underage young adults (18 to 20), and among young adults who screened positive for marijuana, both groups had similarly high rates of daily use – with anywhere from 47% to 64% reporting daily (or near daily) use.
